Question for long time players and possibly ArenaNet - Guild Wars Forums

I don't mean to discriminate against newer players in this post, it's just that it would be difficult for most new players to help out with this question.

Basically, I'm wondering if accounts need some sort of activity to be considered "active" if for some reason accounts/characters/items are deleted due to inactivity. I'm curious as to this because I'm going to be moving later, and will not have internet access to play possibly for the better part of 1-2 years and would like to still be able to pick up where I left off when I get back online.

I'm not sure if GW is old enough to answer this question fully, but that's why I marked it as "possibly for ArenaNet". Hope someone can help!

No worries.....you can be gone for years and could come back and still have everything there.

PS I love your icon. I'm a big Calvin and Hobbes fan. I just got the entire series, bound nicely in 4 books for Christmas.

I agree, no worries. Who knows what happens in the future, perhaps some sort of 5-year limit comes into effect? Or inactive accounts get archived and then reinstated upon the user logging in again?

We've had people post who hadn't logged on since GW went retail almost two years ago. Their accounts were still there, characters and items intact (except for global changes that affected all accounts).

Ah great, thanks for the help. Good to know that my account should be ok if I can't login for a year or so.

Oh and Commander Ryker, Calvin and Hobbes is awesome!

The only effect is if you are a guild leader, after a period of time you will be demoted to officer and the most senior officer will take your place as the guild leader. The next time you log in you will be guild leader again. This happened to me (on one of my accounts) while I've been in Iraq for the last nine months.
